Weekly Update - Oct 11

Welcome back from the long weekend! I hope you all had some fun time with family and enjoyed the wonderful long fall weather. Last week had a few items before Edmonton City Council that I want to highlight in this week’s weekly wrap up.

I’m excited by the buzz around my proposed Airport to Downtown Express Route by Edmonton Transit. The 747 has been a fantastic service, and a new direct transit connection to Edmonton Downtown will provide even better service and help move Edmontonians and visitors to and from Edmonton International Airport!

Edmonton is a leader in waste management, and I was happy to support the Single-Use Items Reduction Bylaw. It keeps us ahead of incoming federal legislation and helps reduce waste in our City. Less litter and less garbage is good for all of us.

While O-day’min didn’t have any rezonings at public hearing, there was good news for our neighbours in Glenora with a rezoning for a multi-family building that will bring greater housing options to this lovely neighbourhood.

Friday was a non-regular Council session for us to discuss a Funding Formula for the Edmonton Police Service. It was a challenging and expansive discussion. I’ll be posting a more detailed walkthrough of my reasoning here in the next few days.
