WEEKLY UPDATE - MAY 1

Welcome back to the Weekly Wrap Up!

Last week at Public Hearing, we saw some administrative updates to the new Zoning Bylaw. These minor changes added clarity and consistency to the rules. More reports will be coming back this year to further fine tune these regulations in line with our City Plan vision.

At Council, our big item was the Spring Operating Budget Adjustment. This was a tough decision point as we look to chart a course out of a tumultuous time, with inflation, decreased Provincial investment, and population growth putting pressure on city infrastructure and services.

I know there is no minimising the impact our budget decision will have for Edmontonians struggling with financial pressures today. What I also know is that we are avoiding even higher costs down the road and setting a strong foundation for future financial sustainability. My full budget blog is available here and I appreciate everyone who has reached out with their thoughts. We will continue to look for ways to decrease property tax pressures while maintaining the city services that help our community thrive.

Thanks again for tuning in and catch you next week!
