Weekly Update - Sep 13, 2022
Welcome to another weekly recap.
The big item for discussion last week was the Regional Transit plan and it carried forward to today’s Council meeting. I was pleased to support a successful motion to move forward with Phase 1, and will be pushing for an additional direct route from Edmonton International Airport to Downtown.
Regional transit is a critical part of building a more equitable and prosperous Edmonton and Metro area. There will be growing pains as the Commission gets started but I look forward to future conversations about how we best provide effective transit for Edmontonians and those coming to Edmonton.
Last week I was excited to support four proposals for 258 units of affordable housing including three projects from Indigenous-led organisations. I’m excited for the new homes and communities these projects will provide Edmontonians. I also supported a subsequent motion by Erin Rutherford to explore how the City uses Good Neighbour Agreements. This is a great opportunity for us to consider how we live together successfully in community and find ways to all be good neighbours to each other.
Thanks for tuning in to another weekly recap! And stay tuned for Thursdays Community Conversation at 7:30pm to 8:30pm.
