WEEKLY UPDATE - FEB 10

Welcome back to the Weekly Wrap Up! I’m happy to share a few highlights from our Public Hearing and Council meetings last week.

At Public Hearing, we approved a rezoning in Blatchford to open up another section for development. This decision builds on the success we’re seeing in this neighbourhood - I encourage you to check out the 2024 recap of progress, including 390 homes built and another 800 on the way! Read the Year-End Recap for more.

At Council, we had a robust conversation about how we move forward on developing surplus school sites. I was pleased to support a streamlined approach that provides robust touch points with Council and community, and will help deliver hundreds of much needed affordable and market housing units.

We also heard about how the City is getting ready to respond to the impacts of potential tariffs. Along with the Edmonton Chamber of Commerce and Edmonton Global, we discussed how we as a community can not only survive but thrive as we come together to face these challenges.

That’s all for last week! There are a number of big items at Committees this week, including the public spaces bylaw today and plans for the acceleration of Valley Line West construction tomorrow. Stay tuned for more updates next week!
